Our AP Language students put rhetoric into action today! 🥣📚 Students completed a Cereal Rhetorical Analysis, examining how cereal advertisements use rhetorical choices to persuade their audiences. Through discussion, collaboration, and evidence-based analysis, students discovered that rhetoric truly is all around us—even at the breakfast table! 👏✨

🇺🇸 One of our favorite new traditions at PHS is crowning a Homecoming King at the Powder Puff 🏈 game (Friday, September 11 at 6:00)! This After Prom fundraiser involves students “voting” for their favorite nominee with a little loose change! Macon placed his vote for Brayden, but the other three candidates have some pretty full jars of cash as well. Good luck to Jonathan, Brayden, Jaxson, and Talen! We can’t wait to see who wins the crown!👑

🎉 Jesslyn Martin: PHS September Student of the Month! 🎉

To know Jesslyn is to love her! Mrs. Deramus nominated this special young lady in recognition of her outstanding work ethic, intelligence, team mentality, and genuine friendliness. Jesslyn is the kind of student who makes PHS a better place simply by being part of it—and she’s a wonderful representative of our Tribe!

Congratulations, Jesslyn! We’re so proud to celebrate YOU! 🖤💛

🧠✨ AP Psychology has been busy! ✨🧠

Ms. Dougan's AP Psych students have been putting their critical thinking skills to work with some fun (and thought-provoking!) activities!

⚖️ Ethics Knockout: Students went head-to-head in a tournament-style competition, voting on which famous psychological experiments they believed were the most unethical. It sparked some great conversations about research ethics and the importance of protecting participants!

🍫 M&M Statistics Lab: Who knew M&Ms could help us prepare for the AP Exam?! 📊 Students used everyone’s favorite colorful candy to practice mean, median, mode, and other important statistical skills they’ll need to know for test day. The best part is they got to eat their M&Ms once the lab was finished!

From debating ethics to analyzing candy… AP Psychology is learning by doing! 🧠🍫📚🎉

CASE Ag Engineering Students are trying to save the universe from a toxic bean spill. Groups of students have to create a simple machine from limited supplies and use teamwork to transfer the toxic beans into a clean container. We should all feel safe with these students.

🦠🔬 Mrs. Kendrick’s first-period Biology class took advantage of a cool(ish) morning as they continued their exploration of bacteria!

Students worked in “expert teams,” digging into new information, collaborating with classmates, and becoming the go-to experts on their assigned topics.

At one point, a student summed up the experience perfectly: “We do so much THINKING in this class!” 😂🧠

YES! That’s exactly what we like to hear, Apaches! Learning should require us to question, connect, discuss, problem-solve, and occasionally make our brains hurt just a little bit.

Keep thinking, scientists! Mrs. Kendrick has big plans for those brains. 🖤💛

Mrs. Simpson "caught" Mae being good, saying this: "Mae Gilbreath went above and beyond by voluntarily partnering with a struggling classmate the very first week of school. Her kindness, support, and willingness to help set her apart, rightly earning her the Caught Being Good button." Congratulations, Mae!

🎭🎮📚 There’s a place for every Apache at PHS!

Club Fair gave our students a chance to explore the many ways to get involved on campus—from History and Drama to Beta, eSports, and plenty of options in between. Students met club members, learned about activities, and hopefully discovered a group that feels just right!

And if you didn’t join a club during the fair, it’s definitely not too late. 👀 Check out the club flyers posted around campus, ask questions, try something new, and GET INVOLVED!

High school is more fun when you find your people. Find your place. Find your own tribe. 🖤💛

Juniors, it’s time to order your senior ring!

Jostens will be back on campus this week to help the Class of 2028 mark one of the first big milestones on the road to senior year! Order in person or online, and stop by the PHS office for details.

And juniors—DON’T BLINK! 👀 One minute you’re ordering a senior ring, and the next we’re talking senior pictures, graduation gowns, and all those “last firsts.”

Enjoy every minute! Class of 2028, your time is coming, and we can’t wait to celebrate all the milestones along the way! 🎓🖤💛

The boys' golf team--and their coaches--helped Nurse Becky's father move his stalled car out of the intersection last week--in the pouring down rain! Nurse Becky presented these young men with their "Caught Being Good" buttons and sang their praises for being great Apaches. Thanks, gentlemen!

💌 A little kindness goes a long way!

Mrs. Riley’s students spent time writing kind notes to share with some of their favorite people as they celebrated “Love Like Brooklynn,” a special project honoring Mrs. Riley’s niece. 💕 Students had the opportunity to pause, think about the people who matter to them, and put a little extra goodness into the world.

These meaningful “family projects” are part of what makes PHS such a special place. Our teachers don’t just teach lessons—they build relationships, share their hearts, and help our students become thoughtful, caring people.

Thank you, Mrs. Riley, for reminding us that kindness always matters. 🖤💛
