Education

I am a graduate of Dover High School. I attended Arkansas Tech University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education.  I later returned to ATU and completed a Master of Science Degree in Instructional Technology. As I tell my students never say never-I didn't think I would return to college and sure enough I did return. I enrolled at UCA to obtain Special Education Certification.

I teach 10-12 Resource English.

 

Important Information

My teacher prep period is 12:35 p.m. to 1:25 p.m. daily. Please call me with any questions that you may have or any concerns that you have about your child's grade or any other concerns.

AMI Day Assignments:

Day 1-5: Complete ReadWorks.org assignment this assignments will be placed on your account as the days occur.

Day 6-10 Complete an  IXL Language Arts Recommendation -this must be a NEW recommendation-not one that you have previously started.

Completion is at 90%.

 

Upon Completion email me (cathy.jones@pottsvilleschools.org)  that you have completed and which IXL that you completed.

On AMI days I will be available via email 8:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. and 12:35 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.

AMI WORK FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 20-24TH

Instructions: THE WORKSHEETS ARE IN YOUR EMAIL-CHECK YOUR EMAIL! Following the directions below to complete the worksheets. Following directions will be part of the grade as well as the accuracy of completing the worksheets.

 

Reading Assignments:

#1-Analyzing O! Pioneers- Read the article-

Complete - Discuss the Meeting on a Google Doc and email it to cathy.jones@pottsvilleschools.org

#2-Finding Text Evidence- Read the article- Complete the Text Evidence on a Google Doc and submit it via email.

#3-Worksheet-Agencies, Businesses, Organizations, Schools, and Teams -Capitalization-

WRITE each sentence with the correct capitalization--DO NOT SEND THEM TYPED!-take a picture of the handwritten corrected sentences and turn them in via email.

#4-Worksheet-Capitalization-Write the 20 sentences (not on Google Doc) with the corrected capitalization. Take a picture and submit via email. 

#5-Complete 2 IXL Language Arts Recommendations and ALSO-work on Language Arts Diagnostics until your areas are pinpointed. This information is very important for the end of year growth records. Please do your best. But remember this is for you to complete without assistance -on the diagnostics.

#1-Reading Assignment: Character Development in "The Tell-Tale Heart" Complete "The Narrator" with a Google Doc. must be in paragraph from with correct punctuation and capitalization. Submit via email when completed.

#2-Reading- Summarize It: President Theodore Roosevelt's 7th Annual Message to Congress- Complete the Summary on a Google Doc and submit via email.

#3-Agencies, Businesses, Organizations, Schools, and Teams- HANDWRITTEN-NOT ON A GOOGLE DOC.  Copy complete each sentence correcting all capitalization errors. Take a picture submit via email.

#4-"Using Antonyms for Context Clues" On a Google Doc-Use the following format to answer the questions.

#1-Reading Assignment- Nonfiction Reading Test-Garbage

Answer all questions on a Google Doc-and submit via email.

#2-Context Worksheet- Look Around! Meaning in Context

Complete via Google Doc- type the underlined word and then the word that most closely matches the underlined word in the sentence.

#3-Extremely Important--PLEASE-complete IXL Diagnositics until you have pinpointed all areas. (this must me completed for you to receive 100% participation in AMI work)
